WELCOME TO SOUTHSIDE SWIM CLUB
FACILITIES
Southside Swim Club was first opened in 1964. In 1974, Jack Jordan merged several swim teams in Shreveport and constructed the 25-yard indoor facility. In 1978, the outdoor 50-meter pool was constructed on the two-acre property. For many years Southside Swim Club was the home to the City of Shreveport Swim Team (COSST) and generated many nationally-competitive swimmers. The facility is now the home to the Southside Flyin' Fish Summer Swim Team and the several area middle school and high school swim teams. The vision that Jack Jordan had for west Shreveport lives on with this excellent family-friendly facility.
OUTDOOR POOL
The outdoor pool is a 50-meter eight lane pool with overflow gutters to minimize turbulence. The pool can be oriented with eight 25-yard lanes on the north end and eight 25-meter lanes on the south end of the pool. Awnings around the pool provide shade for spectators.
During the summer, Southside is oriented as a 50-meter pool to match the swim season. Newly-painted starting blocks are located at both the north and south ends of the pool. Southside is the home of the annual Damon McCoy Swim Meet, which began in 1988 and brings in about 500 swimmers from all over the Gulf Coast region.
INDOOR POOL
A 25-yard six lane heated pool and a smaller freestanding aboveground heated pool used for ISR Arklatex infant swim lessons are both located inside a large building on the Southside Swim Club grounds. During the winter months, the larger pool is used by swim teams, for swim lessons, and sometimes for ISR lessons. It has also been used for master's swimming and scuba diving lessons and we are always open to anything that helps people spend more time in and be safer around the water.
