Swimming is such a freeing sport. When you are in the water you feel light as a feather and as if you can do anything. I love to just move every part of my body when I'm under the water and enjoy the feeling of floating. But as freeing as it is, it is also dangerous. If the proper instruction is not taught and the appropriate technique, it can be devastating. A major teaching mistake is not teaching children from the start of lessons to put their heads down in the water and let their air out with bubbles being the proof of exhaling. Out of fear and inexperience parents tend to want a swim lesson that encourages heads out of the water. That produces a false sense of security and safety for the child. Safe and proper swimming is putting your heads down in the water.
